What is gossip?
- Romans 1:29-30; II Corinthians 12:20; I Timothy 3:11; I Timothy 5:13; II Timothy 3:3; Titus 2:3
- Whispering, secret slander
- Consider:? II Timothy 4:14-15; I Corinthians 1:10-11; Galatians 2:11-14; II John 9-10
- “The sharing of personal or negative information, either true or false, about someone else without righteous intent.”
What is so dangerous about gossip?
- It severs our relationship with God.
- It is an attractive sin.
- It hurts relationships.? Jeremiah 9:4; Proverbs 25:9-10; 26:20
- It becomes something that you cannot fix.
How do we stop gossiping?
- Apply the muzzle.? Proverbs 11:13; 21:23
- Stop listening to gossip.
- Change your thinking about others.? Matthew 12:34

  - At death.? Luke 23:34,46
- When tempted
  - He overcame by “it is written”.? Matthew 4:1-11
  - He overcame by prayer.? Matthew 26:39
- In treatment of others.
  - Matthew 7:12 – as you would be treated
  - Matthew 5:44-45; Romans 12:20-21?- love and do good
  - Galatians 6:1; James 1:19-20?- help bear burdens
  - I Thessalonians 5:14?- support, comfort, be patient
  - II Timothy 2:4; Colossians 3:23?- on job, do work well
