  • Proverbs 1:20-33
  • Wisdom shouts in the street. (v. 20-21)
    • Proverbs 4:7 – get wisdom!
    • Proverbs 2:6 – wisdom comes from God
    • Proverbs 3:5 – don’t trust your own ways, but look to God.
    • I Corinthians 1:18-25 – Christ was brought forth through the wisdom of God.
    • Galatians 1:6-8 – God’s wisdom was once for all given to man.
    • II Peter 1:3 – God gives us all things that pertain to life and godliness
  • The fool ignores her (Proverbs 1:22-26,31)
    • Calamity comes on the one who ignores her.
    • Proverbs 1:8; 3:1,11; 4:2,5 – warnings against ignoring wisdom
    • Many want something besides what God gives us and so ignore Him.
    • Many ignore God out of selfishness.
  • The wise man listens (Proverbs 1:32-33)
    • Proverbs 1:1-5 – a wise man continues to learn.
    • How do we learn?
      • We read the Bible.
      • We exercise humility.
        • Jeremiah 36:4,21-25 – Jehoiakim’s response
        • II Chronicles 34:14-27 – Josiah’s response
      • We trust in God.
        • Hebrews 11:17-19 – Abraham’s trust in God
        • Let go of your own wisdom and listen to God’s wisdom.
      • We go with the facts.
        • Acts 9:1-6 – Saul got new information and went with the facts.
        • Matthew 7:24-27 – be like the wise man that built his house on the rock.
