  • Luke 18:1; Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 4:2; Romans 12:12; II Thessalonians 5:17 – pray without ceasing
  • II Samuel 9:7 – this passage gives us an idea of what “pray without ceasing” means
  • Jesus prayed:
    • At the beginning of his ministry. Luke 3:21
    • At the start of the day. Mark 1:35
    • At meal time. Matthew 14:19
    • At the close of day. Matthew 14:23
    • When making big decisions. Luke 6:12-13
    • When He was transfigured. Matthew 17:1-2; Luke 9:28-29
    • At Gethsemane. Mark 14:32-36
    • As He was dying. Luke 23:34,46
  • How can we know He answers prayers?
    • One five letter word answers this question: FAITH
    • John 9:31; I Peter 3:21; I John 3:22; I John 5:14-15
  • How does He answer prayer?
    • We can’t understand how, but we know that He does.
    • He answers prayers by the laws He has put in place.
      • In spiritual things
      • In material things
  • Like Jesus, we should pray:
    • At the beginning of the day.
    • At meal time.
    • At the close of day.
    • When making big decisions.
    • During trials (at our Gethsemane).
    • At our death.

The Indwelling of the Holy Spirit

  • The New Testament says the Holy Spirit dwells in the Christian. II Timothy 1:14
  • So it is not a question of whether but of how.
  • Is it literal and personal, or is it representatively through His revealed Word?
  • Deity dwells in the Christian.
    • The Father – II Corinthians 6:16; I John 4:12
    • Christ – Ephesians 3:17
    • The Holy Spirit – II Timothy 1:14
    • What is the meaning of Deity dwelling in the Christian?
    • No one thinks that the Father and Christ dwells in us personally.
  • Definition of two words:
    • “In” means “in union with” – John 17:21
    • “Dwell” means that the Word controls one’s life – Revelation 2:13; Colossians 3:16
  • Things that equal the same thing equal each other (transitive property).
    • John 1:7 – walk in light = fellowship with God
    • Walking in light = Holy Spirit dwelling in one
    • Therefore, Holy Spirit dwelling in one = fellowship with God.
  • Summary
    • Colossians 3:17 – Deity dwells in the Christian by faith. Faith comes by hearing the Word. Romans 10:17
    • Every influence ascribed to the Holy Spirit is also ascribed to the Word.

Who knew crows were so smart?

Just up on Ted.com, there’s a video about a guy that taught crows to pick up coins and return them to a vending machine in exchange for food. Cool stuff.

Catholics can now believe in aliens

    • What do others think about God and the church when they see filth on your site? Romans 2:17-24; I Peter 2:12; I Peter 1:13-16
  • How to fix it?
    • Ephesians 4:19-24 – repent, pray for forgiveness, and do works worthy of repentance
    • I Peter 4:3-6 – we must live according to God
    • II Corinthians 12:21 – Paul mourned for those that had not repented of their sins
